Fall Favorites and a Pumpkin Freebie: Kamp Kindergarten

Hello, friends!  This is Tami from Kamp Kindergarten.  I am excited to join you for The Primary Peach’s Fall Favorites and Freebies series!

Don’t forget to enter our giveaway!  Look for the Rafflecopter giveaway at the bottom of his post.

Fall is my favorite season.  I love pumpkins!  I also love doing food activities with little learners.  So of course I love a pumpkin food activity for little learners.

Pumpkin Patch Snack

I have seen different versions of this activity in several different places online.  I am not sure who posted it first to give proper credit.  It is not my original idea, but I adapted the activity to suit my needs.

For time and convenience, I purchased ready to eat chocolate pudding cups.  If time permits, letting learners measure and mix their own will provide an even more meaningful experience for them.

Give each learner 5 chocolate animal crackers and a zip top plastic bag. (I like to give them less than 5 crackers and ask them how many more they need to have 5.)

Learners crush the crackers to make “dirt” for their pumpkin patch.  Five crackers are more than enough, but you can expect some crumbs to spill.

Give each learner a pudding cup.  Have them open the pudding cup.  They pour the “dirt” crumbs on top of the pudding cup.

Give each learner 3 candy pumpkins.  They arrange their pumpkins in their pumpkin patch.

                A FUN FALL FREEBIE

Here is a pumpkin themed FREEBIE for your little learners.  It is a great supplemental math activity for a pumpkin life cycle unit or can be used as a stand alone assignment.

I love activities that get my students out of their seats and engaged in their learning.  “Roam the Room” type activities are perfect for this.

This FREE Add the Room activity has a twist.  Instead of copying an addition equation to solve, learners count the seeds on the pumpkins to determine the equation.

You can download this FREE resource from my Teachers Pay Teachers store.

I hope you and your learners enjoy this FREEBIE!!!

Fall Favorites and a Spider Freebie - Polka Dot Firsties

Happy Fall!  It's Liz from Polka Dot Firsties and I'm excited to be sharing my fall favorites and a freebie with y'all.

Nice weather has finally hit Georgia for the last two weeks - perfect temperatures, sunny skies, and a light breeze.  I was glad when October finally hit because the end of September was rain, rain and more rain. Ugh.

My favorite thing about fall in Georgia is hiking in the North Georgia mountains.  There are so many trails and great views.

Here's a view of my favorite local hiking place - Sawnee Mountain.  It's a quick hike so you can do it if you're short on time.

I try to spend as much time as possible outside because I know winter will trap me indoors.  Check out this farm view from my co-worker's wedding earlier this month.

I also love all things candy corn, but I'm trying not to eat it this year.  It's dangerous stuff!

October usually kicks off my themed weeks.  If you don't plan it out, it's hard to squeeze everything in!  This week my class is focusing on all things spiders.

Creepy!  But they love it!  Our reader has the Little Miss Muffett poem.  It's the perfect introduction for spiders and poetry.

I really thought that the students would not be interested in the poem, but I'm surprised how many do not know the nursery rhyme!

I wanted students to dig in a little deeper to the poem.  Students are able to glue a copy of the poem into their reading interactive notebook.  If you don't have one, you can just print out the poem full sized.

Students circle vocabulary words and write the meaning above it.

I also included a reader's response activity where students decide where Miss Muffet went after she ran away.

Fall Favorites and a {Rhyming} Freebie: Third Grade Bookworm

Hey there Peaches! I'm so happy to be back with you for our Fall Favorites and Freebies series!

I've had the best time reading through my fellow Peachies' posts and collecting their AWESOME freebies. Don't forget to stay "tuned" all the way through each post so you can enter to win our Rafflecopter giveaway! But hey --- Time's-a-wastin', so let's get started!!

I love fall and the little signal it sends to my brain to pull out the crock pot! Anyone else?? One of my favorite go-to websites for new recipes is Crockin Girls. If you sign up for their newsletter, they send you a link to a new recipe + a shopping list each week. I love it and it keeps our dinner routine from getting boring!! Their recipe for chicken and dumplings is a favorite at my house. Click on the picture below to check it out!

How about a little fall freebie today too??

I'm embarrassed to admit I've been sitting on this one for 2 years! I made it for my last class and never did anything with it, so lucky YOU! :) It's a fun and simple rhyming center that will work great for 2nd and 3rd graders. I made it especially for the group I had because they were really struggling with the concept of rhyming and it was making our poetry lessons really difficult!!

It's a seasonal rhyming matching game with 2 different recording sheets. You can grab it from TpT by clicking on the image above. I would love a little feedback if you think your kids will enjoy it!

Thanks for joining me for our Fall Favorites and Freebies series!

Don't forget to enter to win our $50 Rafflecopter giveaway below. The winner gets to pick between an Amazon OR a TpT gift card!

Fall Favorites and a Freebie - True Life I'm a Teacher

Happy Fall, Y'all! I don't ever get tired of saying that!!! It's Theresa from True Life I'm a Teacher!

I LOVE fall! Being from Florida, I never really experienced fall growing up...but I would see pictures of the most gorgeous trees with deep red, purple, orange, and golden trees, and I knew that fall was my favorite season. Can I just say, Fall hasn't disappointed me yet! PLUS, here at the Primary Peach, we're talking about our fall favorites, sharing freebies, oh, and having a GIVEAWAY!
You're going to want to scroll to the end of this post to enter our giveaway for a $50 gift card to either Amazon or Teachers Pay Teachers (the winner gets to choose!)
What's not to love about Fall? PSL's (that's pumpkin spice lattes for you non-coffee drinkers), sweaters, boots, no humidity, changing leaves, pumpkin everything, soups, Halloween, cool, crisp weather, windows open, fuzzy socks, pumpkin everything, scarves, football, oh and have I mentioned pumpkin everything?!
I love children's books of pretty much any variety, but there's something extra special about fall-themed picture books! You can read descriptions of all the books here.
I also really love decorating for fall!
The BEST Autumn candle ever! I buy these 4 (or more!) at a time (they go on sale, plus I usually have a coupon), and probably go through a candle every 1-2 weeks. It's that great! Yum!
This year, my husband and I went apple picking for the first time, and it was such a fun experience! The weather was just as perfect as the view!
What's better than Fall? Nothing, actually! Haha! But freebies come close! My freebie is actual all about giving back and giving thanks to the military. Both of my grandpa's served in the military, along with my father-in-law. I tend to get emotional when I think of all those who have served or are currently serving in the military have sacrificed for all I hold near and dear.

Nothing I could say or do, would ever be enough to show my appreciation, however, I do think that taking time out to write heartfelt letters with my students is a start.

Each year, a local radio station launches a HUGE campaign to ensure that every.single deployed military man and woman receives a handwritten letter for Thanksgiving.
The catch is that in order to get the letters delivered in time, they must be received by the radio station no later than October 30.
The best part, though, is that this is literally a 1-lesson activity. In other words, just use it for ONE of your writing blocks sometime between now and the end(ish) of October. Read more about it here.
Don't forget to enter for your chance to win a $50 gift card to either Amazon or TpT - winner's choice!
