Sweet Treats: Spreading SMILES and LOVE!

Happy Sunday! It's Chandra from Teaching with Crayons and Curls and I am SO excited to be sharing some Sweet Treats with you today!!

Let's get started with a freebie that you can start implementing in your classroom NOW for Valentine's Day and continue using ALL year long!

This year I am teaching in a multi-age classroom and my teacher bestie and I try to create an extremely positive learning environment for our firsties and sweet seconds! We are constantly giving our students positive feedback, but wanted them to take on more resonsibility and really focus on having a positive attitude and sharing that positivity with others!

We both absolutely LOVE this quote and wanted to really put it to use in our classroom! So, we did!

I have this sweet quote framed on my desk as a great reminder!

Right at the beginning of January when we were discussing resolutions and goals, we decided that it was our class goal to make someone smile each and everyday! At the end of the day we discuss who made us smile that day! GREAT way to end the day in a positive way!

We also started using "Sending Smiles" or "Spreading Smiles" slips within our classroom! Students are encouraged to fill out a form when someone in our class makes them smile and then either pass it along to them or put it in their mailbox to take home. We even sent a letter home so that families could get involved in all the positive fun!

We love this quote and what it means SO much that we made it the center of our classroom- literally and figuratively!

If you think this is something you could implement in your classroom, grab this freebie in my store! I can't wait to hear about how your students spread smiles!!!

And, you can make your own bulletin board!

Now on to my BIG idea! (Not really, but a fun idea to try in your classroom!)

Since we've been spreading smiles and promoting kindness, I thought it would be a great to share all the kindness and in a fun and creative way. And, I just LOVE doing crafts with my kids!

In order to tell special people in our lives how we feel about them and WHY they are so special to us, our firsties and sweet seconds will be completing these cute little crafts next week and writing a letter to a "BEARY" special person and letting someone know that some "BUNNY" loves them!

I just love being able to incorporate ways for my kids to share kindness with others AND incorporate all the kindness into standards based activities!

Grab the {"Beary" Special} craft or the {some "BUNNY" Loves You} craft in my store!

And, I can't leave you without a little bit more!

These are some of my absolute FAVORITE read alouds for Valentine's Day! They help spread kindness and LOVE!

If you haven't read Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch, you MUST order it for yourself right NOW! Trust me, you won't be disappointed! This is a great read aloud to read with the bunny OR bear craft!

A great read aloud to read before the bear craft is The Valentine Bears! If you are anything like me and dont' have a copy of the book, but still want to share it with your students here is a video of the story being told! And, a favorite to read with the bunny craft is Dear Bunny.

If you want to save this idea for later, make sure to pin the image below!

Thank you for joining me! Make sure to check back ALL month long for even more {Sweet Treats}.

Sweet Treats: Let's Make Some SWEET Treats!

Hey guys! It's Amy, from The Land of 2nd Grade. Can you believe we are already 1 month down in the year of 2016??? CRAZINESS!!!

Well first, I have a fun freebie for you guys! I LOVE making fun snacks with my class!!! Especially themed ones. So for February there are lots of themed snacks you can do. I usually do my themed snacks for Fun Fridays as a reward for great behavior and hard work. I don't do them EVERY Friday, but I try to do a few a month.

For February, I put together a little packet for Groundhog Day, Valentine's Day, and President's Day snacks. In the packet you get a snack list, you could send home for parents to sign up to send an item in, you get teacher directions, and recipe sheets for the kids to fill out (this is great for sequencing). Making learning FUN right!?!?!

I hope you enjoy this freebie! Just click on the picture below to download...

I also have some fun centers that you can find in my TPT store. If you click on the picture below it will take you straight to these fun centers that you can use for Valentine's Day.

Sweet Treats: A Collection of February Goodies (FREEBIES) for Valentine's Day

Hi, Everybody! Happy Wednesday! It's Stacia from Collaboration Cuties, and I'm so excited to share some Sweet Treats with you to use with your students for Valentine's Day! Yay!  :)

So, the first Treat is a fun idea for using Valentine's Day candy with your kids!
I love to incorporate food or candy into Math lessons because it always gets the students so excited! Around Valentine's Day, you can find those little candy hearts everywhere, and they are a great math tool for reviewing fractions and decimals!
Give each student 10 candy hearts and have them sort them by color. Then they can find fractions of a set for each color. After they find the fractions for each color, you can have them do some addition of fractions. For example, ask how many pink and orange hearts do you have? Since you are always working with a denominator of 10, you can also throw in some decimal review. Have students convert the fractions to decimals and then convert tenths to hundredths!  So many possibilities!

And now some Valentine's Day Freebies! Just click the images to download them!
New Problem Solving Pack with addition, subtraction, and multiplication word problems!
Great Grammar Practice for Big Kids!
Fun Multiplication Game!

Writing Teacher Love Letters
Looking for a great bulletin board for the month? Have your students write Teacher Love Letters. Teach or review letter writing with your students.  The goal: write a thank you letter to a teacher telling them why they loved being in their class!  This will put a smile on other teacher's faces and give the kids a chance to show the love.

Want more poetry fun?  Check out this February Poetry Literacy Center.  An entire month of poetry at your fingertips.  Four Original Poems with Task Cards and Choice Boards.  Poems include - I Love the American Saddlebred, Thank You Poem, Vote for Me: A President's Day Poem, and My Heart: A Shape Poem.  Students learn to read and write poetry, practice test strategies, connect to the poem through reader's response and make connections to math, science, and social studies standards.  This months students write alliterations, research voting rights, and much more.  Help your students FALL IN LOVE with poetry!

Sweet Treats: A Collections of February Goodies {FREEBIES}

Another month is here!

Anyone counting down the days until Spring Break? In my area we also get a (glorious) February break. I was usually holding on by tooth and nail at this point! Or hanging on by the hope of a snow day.  Totally a snow day.

February and March are usually when the magic happens. We thought we would help you with that classroom magic here at the Primary Peach by sharing lots and lots of ideas and FREEBIES!!! Yay for the "f" word! The theme for this month is "Sweet Treats: A Collections of February Goodies" and each author will be sharing some new ideas and goodies with you!

Ready to get started?

We have a brand new Primary Peach Pinterest board called "Primary Peach February Goodies." I know, it is an exceptionally clever title.  Or not.  I promise the ideas inside are much better than the name!  Make sure to hop on over and check it out.  It also has tons of freebies on the board.

I *just* finished my Differentiated ELA Centers for  February (Second Grade).  Main idea is something kids can ALWAYS practice.  This freebie has four passages for students to practice finding main idea.  The recording sheet is differentiated.  Kids can either record their work in a multiple choice or an open answer format.  There are also two versions of the same passages.  One set of the passages has a picture cues and the other does not.

Click on the picture to pick up your freebie!

I also have a few more freebies.  Just click on the picture to grab your FREE copy!
